    Dear AFMC Family,

We want to inform you of the recent events concerning the state of our church.

As you may already know from last Sunday’s surprise announcement, Pastor Taka has resigned as lead pastor of our church effective immediately. Our worship leader David and his team also resigned effective immediately. Pastor Matt announced that his last day with us will be June 18th.

On Monday, our legal team received communication from the PCJC legal team stating, “The planned affiliation between AFMC and the Voice Church is ended.“

During the past two months, under much pressure, Debbie & Jennie steadfastly managed to keep custody of bank accounts and records - and, despite repeated demands, did not relinquish control to the Voice Church of Tustin. Their employment (without interruption of pay) remains intact as does that of Shirley and Pastor Kaz. In addition, various AFMC social media accounts and the website were taken from us. We are now in the process of recovering those from the Voice Church of Tustin and ending the disruption to AFMC.

There is still much work to be done on the legal front as well as the healing of our church members. The Save AFMC Task Force in conjunction with the Official Board & Delegates will continue working with our legal team toward an acceptable conclusion which may take some time. We thank our attorneys, James & Bruce, for their very generous discounted fee rate, and ask for your continued donations to the Save AFMC Legal Fund until this is resolved.

It is time to move forward into healing and rebuilding.

We now invite everyone to participate in the “Relaunching of AFMC“. It has been a blessing to see so many of you return to campus when the call to show support was sent out. Now, more than ever, your attendance and your healing is our desire. We eagerly anticipate this to be a time of Revival brought on by the Holy Spirit as we pray and fast and “go deep“.

Beginning this Sunday, May 28th, and continuing every Sunday, we are setting apart a holy time of prayer where we can submit ourselves (and our plans) to the sovereignty and leading of the Holy Spirit, and intercede for our church and conference. It will be after service from 11:30 to 12:30 in the main chapel.

We are beginning the search for an interim pastor until a full-time lead pastor can be appointed. Feel free to speak to our Delegates (Juli, Russ, Grace, Victor, Lisa) with your thoughts on candidates or characteristics for the position(s).

Additional communications will be forthcoming as new developments occur.

We thank God for His covering, protection and leading as well as the society for all your prayers and support.

On behalf of the Save AFMC Task Force, the Official Board, and the Delegates, I ask for your continued prayers.

    David Azama
